Finley’s 2nd birthday isn’t until April 19th, but we had family in town for Easter weekend and decided to celebrate his special day. We had our family over for dinner and dessert.
His Uncle Nick and Auntie Katie surprised him with a tractor ride. Nick works for an landscape design firm and so he brought one of their tractors to our house and drove Finley up and down the street.
He received many wonderful presents including a Hot Wheels tractor. He wasn’t quite sure at first, but after about 20 minutes or so he was driving in circles around the backyard. He begs everyday to go ride it and has even decided it is ok to wear his helmet.
Jen also made him a tractor cake to go with our theme of tractors for the day.
Finley, Auntie Aly and I went to the Woodland Park zoo on Saturday for their Bunny Bounce Easter event. It was kind of chilly and a little rainy, but he had a good time hunting for eggs. We stayed and saw a few animals before coming home. Here are a few pictures.
Looking out of the Egg Hunt Area – Still in his jammies. He had to wear his “jungle jammies” to the zoo.
One of the mom’s groups we belong to had an egg hunt in their backyard for all of the kids. It was great to be in a smaller setting then the big community egg hunts. Finley LOVED it. Last year he would pick up an egg and look at it and then put it down and move on. This year he was running around picking up eggs and putting them in his basket. He was really excited when they had his favorite – M&Ms in them or 2nd favorite “Jello” Beans. He is very excited to hunt again this weekend. He has been carrying his empty eggs all over the house.
We have been really bad about updating our site with the baby’s ultrasound pictures. We are getting excited for the big day. Only 10 weeks to go. This pregnancy has gone a lot faster than with Finley. We’ll try to post the ultrasound pictures soon.
This is not the greatest picture, but I realized we hadn’t taken any belly shots so I thought we better do it before it was too late.
In preperation for the new baby’s arrival we put a twin bed in Finley’s room. Our hope was for him to transition from the crib to the bed fully by the time the baby came. He seems to have liked it – he has slept in it every night since we put it in the room.
We explained to him that the baby would be sleeping in the crib and he could sleep in his big boy bed. He told us, “No, the baby would like to sleep on the floor.”
