Yesterday was opening day of the swim season at our pool. We stopped by for the Barbecue and Finley and Tyler took a little swim. Last year Finley wasn’t too big into swimming, but this year he was a little fish. He got a new life vest (which he calls his swim jacket), but we think it is a little big so we’ll find something else for this summer. It was such a gorgeous day. We’ll be spending most of our summer at the pool.

Finley and Tyler were able to go visit the Seattle Fire Department last week. Finley really enjoyed it.

On Monday our friends Jessica and Ethan invited us to go to an Elmo live production at the Tacoma Dome. I wasn’t sure how much Finley would enjoy it because he isn’t big on giant characters. The show was very entertaining (lots of music, lights and dancing) and we had great seats (front row in front of the stage). He was busy watching for the whole show. Towards the end he really was enjoying the characters and the show. On the way home he asked if we were going again tomorrow. Maybe next year. Thanks Jessica and Than for a fun evening.

Two weeks ago Samantha was one of 35 students from her school’s math team to participate in the 2009 Washington State Math Olympiad. It was a fun trip to Port Angeles, with a stop in the new Twilight store (Samantha enjoyed that).
At the Math Olympiad Samantha’s team was the only team from her school to get a perfect score on the Algebra portion of the test! YIPPEE! She did very well on all other portions of the test.
We are also very excited that Samantha has been accepted into all honors classes next year for 7th grade. She has worked hard this year and we are looking forward to the challenges of honors.

Finley, Tyler and Auntie Aly went on a tour at the Seattle Mounted Police Station. Finley liked the horses and the park.

Ever since Finley was born everyone says he looks just like Tyler. While I agree he does I do think he looks a little like me too. On Friday Tyler went to his Granny’s house and she had some pictures of Tyler when he was little. Oh my – I had to do a double take, even though I knew that was Tyler and not Finley.
What do you think?

Here they are zoomed in a little bit.

On Finley’s birthday we took him to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner. This is a family tradition we started when Samantha was about 3 and have continued to go there every year for dinner to celebrate our birthdays. This was the first year that Finley really enjoyed it.
He was very upset though when they came and took his salad. He told the waiter as he was walking away, ” I wasn’t done with that.” The waiter didn’t hear him and he moved onto his Spaghetti.

Finley had a few friends over to celebrate his 2nd Birthday. This was our first “friends” birthday party. Finley had a great time, but we were exhausted when everyone left and our backyard looked like a toy store exploded. Every truck and tractor Finley owns was out in the yard.
