Finley’s school hosts a harvest festival every year. This year we ventured out without help and everyone survived. This was our first big outing with all there kids and me. Wasn’t easy, but we did it.

After lots of time trying to decide the boys settled on a ninja (Finley) and Yoda (Declan). I found a super easy idea for a ninja mask on Pinterest and then he wore all black. Easy peasy. Declan’s I made and it was actually pretty easy. I found a free pattern for a hat and added ears. The robe was a pattern I already had but it was knee length so I extended it and crossed my fingers all the pieces would match up. It worked.

Saviah will be R2D2 but her costume isn’t quite finished yet. So for our first two events this year she was a skeleton.

Thomasson Farms with the Cousins

We have gone for several years to Thomasson Family Farms. This year we decided to make it a family event with our local cousins. The Paynes, Schumachers, Steen/Manners, Auntie Pam and Nama and Papa joined us for an afternoon on the farm. We missed our Steenhouse Cousins and Auntie Katie and Uncle Nick.

We started out in the play area with bubbles, roping and water fun.

We petted some animals, went in the hay maze and then headed out to the field for pumpkins and a hay ride.

Hollow Fox Farms (According to Declan)

We went on a field trip to Fox Hollow Farms (AKA hollow fox ) with Declan’s preschool class. Saviah was just two weeks old so I took Nama along for reinforcement. We were getting ready to go that morning and Finley figured out what we were doing and he wasn’t going and guilted me into taking him. So he skipped school for the day (try not to make this a habit).

We had a great time. Since our last visit they built this super cute Victorian village of playhouses. Nama and Papa Dave need one in their backyard. We had to pry the boys away from here.

We explored the farm and took a train ride.

I didn’t take as many pictures as usual. I was busy with little miss.

The boys eventually made it to their favorite part of the farm – the creek. The spent some time in the water exploring with their beloved Teacher Gloria. They were cold, wet and in heaven.

On the way to the car to change before bouncing in the bounce houses the caretaker had let these parrots(?) out to fly. They were a little crazy, but cool.

The boys and their pumpkins.

The boys had to carve their mini pumpkins when we got home. It was a HUGE mess, but they had a blast.

Another fun fall adventure.

Look alike?

Finley was born looking like Tyler. Declan looked like me as a baby and then has started to look more like Tyler as he has gotten older. When Saviah was born I thought she looked like Finley and a little like Declan.

What do you think?

Corn Maze

Long story short we ended up with multiple passes to multiple corn mazes. If you know us well Tyler has an excellent sense of direction, but can’t remember landmarks or specific streets. I am the opposite. Needless to say I am HORRIBLE at corn mazes, but the boys love them. Last year I called my mom nearly in tears from the middle of one on what was probably the HOTTEST day ever in October because we were lost.

To use up some of these passes we headed down into the valley to Carpenito Farms. Tyler got us through TWO mazes without a single wrong turn.

Miss Saviah enjoyed the mazes from the comfort of the front pack and asleep.

We finished the adventure with a trip on the hay ride. It was bumpy and the boys loved it.

Welcome Saviah Rebecca

All of our babies have arrived on time so I figured this new addition would be here just about the 1st of October as expected, Uncle Sean’s birthday. Nama wanted baby to arrive on 9/29 for her birthday, but I had a feeling that baby would make their arrival unique and come on 9/30. Around 11pm on 9/29 I started having irregular contractions and they stopped around 1am so I headed to bed. Woke up around 2:30am with pretty regular contractions that I started timing. Around 4:30 I woke up Tyler and said that we might need to start timing them. That was when my water broke – totally strange and nothing like you would expect. We headed to the hospital where I was having some small contractions, but not a ton of pain and quite honestly I thought they would send us home. After getting there I was told I was at 6cm and having regular contractions I wasn’t feeling. I tested positive for group b strep so I had to get a 4 hour drip of antibiotics before delivery or stay an extra 24 hours for observation. We were really hoping to avoid an extra day stay as we didn’t really want to stay the first 24 hours either. I progressed quickly and was ready to push at the 4 hour mark. About 30 minutes later we welcomed our daughter. Yes a girl!!!

With baby’s arrival just a few weeks away we weren’t sure we would make it to the fair, but we went for it. The weather was terrible and we got rear-ended on the way there, but so glad we went for one last adventure before baby. We even got our yearly fix of bad for you fair food.
